Atlanta Knights Talk: Unfinished Business
Sept 6, 2010
by Derrek Douglas
Last season, the Atlanta Knights went undefeated in the MET League. They were Keegan Cup Champions. They also earned a silver medal at the Junior B National Tournament. It was an amazing season, however, Head Coach Kevin Kerr will tell you, that was last season. “Our goals are always to move guys on to the USHL and College. We also want to finish what we weren’t able to finish last year,” Coach Kerr said in reference to their second place finish at Nationals.
This won’t be easy since the Knights lost many of their core players from last year. “We have a much younger team this year, but these guys are very cerebral. They really understand the game. We understand that the season will have its ups and downs, but what we are trying to teach, is that the season is a marathon. You take one day at a time. And with each day, you try to get
better,” he added.
I asked Coach Kerr what fans should expect from the Knights when they come to see them play. “We are a high energy team. We finish every check and drive to the net. I really try to promote the college game, with speed and intensity. The way hockey should be played.”
The Atlanta Knights open their season at home on Saturday September 25, 2010 at the Marietta Ice Center in Atlanta, GA against Tampa Bay at 7:30pm. For more information, visit the
