The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Jr. Knights Mount Up for Their Inaugural Season
Sept. 6, 2010

Starting a brand new Junior A hockey team isn’t easy. Just ask Anthony DiPalma, Head Coach for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Jr. Knights. I recently spoke with Coach DiPalma to get a
sneak preview of what to expect from his brand new team. “The team is looking good. When recruiting players, we really set out to get the blue collar guys with a lot of character,” he said.
“The organization did a great job with getting the word out. It was a grind. But in the end, the ownership and the facilities sold it for the players.”
Coach DiPalma signed on after assistant coaching stints with Quinnipiac University and the AJHL’s own, Hartford Jr. Wolfpack. “I can’t say enough about the Jr. Wolfpack organization.
The guys there really taught me a lot. They are all about the players. Jerry Domish (Jr. Flyers) was a big help as well,” DiPalma went on to say.
When asked about his team and coaching goals, DiPalma said, “We want to be over .500. The season will have its ups and downs, but what it all comes down to is, developing hockey players
for the next level.”
Opening night is Saturday September 11, 2010 at the Revolution Ice Center in Pittston, PA against the Philadelphia Junior Flyers at 7:30pm. The night is, “Salute Your Troops” night. Jr.
Knight Youth players have free admission if they wear their Jr. Knight Hockey jersey.
